What is the difference between patting your face dry and actually rubbing it dry with a towel??
Question: I was reading the labels on the back of face cleaners and they all say pat face dry with towel, why couldnt u just dry your face normally with a towel, I just rub my face with the towel to dry it I never pat it, or are you supposed to pat dry your face all the time?
Answers: It doesn't matter whether or not you have sensitive, oily, normal, dry, or tough skin.
Skin, itself, alone is pretty sensitive.
Sensitive skin is considered as sensitive because it's more easily irritated compared to regular skin.
Rubbing a towel against your face damages your skin. If you noticed- this is why people are red after rubbing their faces against a towel, at times. Skin on the face is much more sensitive compared to the skin on your arms or legs. That's why there's BODY lotion, and products specifically for your FACE.
Patting your face dry is a way to dry your face by applying some material on your face with pressure so that it can absorb the water. And rubbing it carelessly actually makes the appearance of your skin worse, because it'll irritate your skin, AND irritate any acne(if you have some, that is).
So, just stick to the instructions.
If it says don't use near fire don't do it.
and if it says pat until dry , just do it to stay on the safe side.
I think that maybe patting is probably best if you have more sensitive skin, because rubbing, by those with sensitive skin, may be very, very slightly abrasive. But if you rub your face dry normally, and it feels fine and doesn't get irritated, I don't see any problem with rubbing! I rub my face and I look fine. LOL
pattting face dry with hands keep more moisture in...you can pat your face with a towel to remove excess or unwanted oil from the face...
The theory behind the pat don't rub system is that you A) don't dry out your face too much causing dry skin and B) that you don't rub all the germs and dirt from your towel into your pores. In my opinion its foolish. I rub my face because its quicker...i do leave it a little bit moist so that i know that it is not too dry. But as far as dirt on towels.....my towels are washed every few day so there is not too much dirt on them!!!
