I'm getting a lip piercing soon. should i get a stud or a ring put in first??

Question: i'm going to be getting a lip piercing off to the right side of my bottom lip for my 18 birthday. a friend of mine has an uncle who owns a tatoo/piercing place, so i can get it done for free, so long as i get something to put in there. he says some books say it doesn't really matter what you put in there first, but he admits to not really having a say in the matter since it's my body, and he does not have a lip piercing himself. i intend to have a ring in there ultimately, but another friend suggests getting a stud first, then switching it out. i don't really trust his ideas though, since some of the stupid things he does makes bam margera look like stephen hawking. frankly i'm leaning towards just getting the ring and keeping it there, but just getting a stud and switching it out might work too. unless you actually intend to give advice about what i asked, don't answer. i'm gonna do this no matter what right wing, christian, conservative morals you try to throw at me.

Answers: you need to have a ring first. they are easier to clean, and are reccomended for preventing infection. also swittching your jewlery isn't as easy as it sounds, so you probabaly should just start with what you want to have there permanently.

I would get a stud first. I don't have a lip piercing but a ring could get caught on something. You can always switch out later.

If your going to ultimatly end up with a ring you should just go for that. The studs look kind of cool but the back of the studs depending on where they hit will recede your gums. I have a friend that had a stud right in the middle and if you look behind his lip you can see the roots of his front teeth. YUCK lol. I know some people will say dont do it but its your body we only live once so do what makes you happy.

A stud. When I see someone with a ring, I wonder what would happen if it was torn out accidentally, eeww.

I know this guy back in high school he had two lip rings one on either side...it was so hot...I say go with the ring for sure!!! Somthing about it...

stud, rings get infected easier when you first get the piercing

i've had lip piercings before. if you get a ring its easier to clean while it heals because you can rotate the antibacterial you put on it into the hole.
and its funnier to play with once it heals up. you can move to ball back and forth out of your mouth.
