Piercings over scar tissue??
Question: i used to have my nose pierced, but it fell out and got infected. now it is healed. i want it pierced again, but i dont know if you can over the scar it left... there is also a black dot where it was pierced.
Answers: This is a very common question in my shop. Like i tell all my clients it can be done, but depending on the area or thickness of the scar tissue it might not be such a good idea. I do not recommened people to re-pierce a navel that has scar tissue-cause usually it will just get infected or grow out.
But with a nose it should be fine. You should NEVER get pierced with a gun- its not a piercing, its a dull smash wound. If you plan on getting your nose repierced please go to a professional piercer and get it done with all sterilized equipment and a hollow needle.
Expect a little more pain than the initial piercing-because now the needle has to break through the scar tissue.
Do NOT use alcohol or peroxide to clean it!!! those things both dry out the skin alot and will cause it to crack and split and create nasty flaky skin all around the nose piercing.
Dont be afraid to do it hunn. it will hurt a bit more but if you take care of it right will be heal fine :)
Just use non-scented DIAL liquid soap to lather and clean the piercing 3 times a day for a month

I had the same issue with a belly ring. I never got it redone, but the lady at the piercing place said she'd be able to work around it. Same with my ears when I got those re-done. They can usually find a way to work around the old scar. If it's that much of a problem, maybe get it done on the other side.
yep, you can pierce over scar tissue, but it will take a little more effort to get the ring through since scar tissue is much tougher than regular tissue. I've got a 4g CBR through my earlobe which had gotten seriously infected and closed up a few years ago.. it hurt like a ***** to get it done again but it's worth it :)
My bellybutton on the bottom was pierced. Then I took it out and it left a huge raised scar. I got it repierced. It hurt so effing much. It looks ok now. But you can see if you get really close and if the ring is out that it is over a scar.
