Question: I have had my belly piercing since July 4th, 2006, and now (april 29 2007), i want it to close. The skin between the two balls of the ring got way too thin and im afraid that it will rip off. that is why i want it to close. But will it?
Answers: If the skin is very thin in that area, it might be that the piercing is rejecting. Sometimes if you have a piercing and your body doesn't agree with it, it'll build new skin underneath the piercing until the jewelry literally falls off of your navel and new skin has been built to close the hole.
Go to a professional piercer and see what your options are. If you take the jewelry out, I'm pretty sure it'll close, but I don't know about the kind of care the piercing will need while closing.
Definitely don't make big piercing decisions without seeing a professional piercer first. And not the piercing-gun-in-the-mall piercers, lol. Good luck!
My cousin thought the same, that the skin was way too thin, however 5 years later it's still in and fine.
There is a chance your body may reject it, but 'rip off' might be a bit extreme. Even if you take it out now its more than likely be a little scar anyway so the best thing to do it go see a professional piercer and asked them to have a look, usually there more than happy to help.
