My skin is getting light patches, I hear it's a skin disease called Vitiligo. Can someone help me with this??

Question: Vit-ill-eye-go is what a pharmacist told me it was. I had it in a kinda triangle shape around my nose when I was younger, but it eventually faded a little, but I can see it more clearly now and I have some spots on the sides of my stomach, on both sides of my body where my arms rest(the sides), and some on my back even my @$$.

Im about Ushers complexion, or Jamie Foxx...just look at my profile.

I am getting freaked out because it is really spreading. The pharmacist told me about the lightening creams that would make my whole body the color of the patches, but I dont want to become lighter. Can anyone who witnessed this, or went through this help me out.
Answers: this is a loss of pigment in the skin. my daughter had some vitaligo patches on her nose and cheeks when she was in preschool. we went to a dermatologist who prescribed a steroid cream to help. hers stopped, but actually there is no cure. i know a girl who has it severely over her entire body. this is why mj bleached his skin. he was trying to disguise vitaligo. sorry, there's no cure. but a dermatologist may be able to give you something to slow the progression.
A lot of darker skin people have the same condition on their body. Its nothing you can change it's part of life, just deal with it
See a doctor..
It could be something else, like tinea versicolor, which is easily treated.
Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is use make up to disguise it. Reputedly, this is what Michael Jackson says he suffers from.

Why don't you speak with your doctor about it? I'm sure you'll get the advice and reassurance that you need.

It's not only darker skinned people that suffer with vitiligo, but it's obviously more noticeable on them.
