Need help with dry skin/proactiv??
Question: I started using proactiv a few months ago.
when i first started using it i found that my face got REALLY dry and was pealing. I figured out that it was the moisturizer that was causing the problem. I couldn't stand the dryness/flakyness. So, ever since i've been using just the face wash and toner with a different moisturizer. It seems like kind of a waist of money though.
My mom says she thinks i should just use the proactiv moisturizer and that the peeling is just the dead skin coming off and thinks it should stop after about a week.
any suggestions?
should i try my mom's suggestion?
Answers: try using an at home microdermabrasion. this takes away dead skin cells (your dry skin) your new skin will renew every 13-15 days. salycilic shouldn't dry your skin benzoyl does. Unless your skin is very sensitive then you should stop using proactive only because it's formulated to treat acne deep into the pores and may cause you to get dry skin since you're very sensitive to it. Try a regular skincare that for sensitive skin. my friend has really sensitive skin actually my roommate and she's super sensitive even out in the sun she'll get rashed and this is what she uses. http://cgarcia1.qbeautyzone.com/products...
reason why she doesn't react to it is because it has natural ingredients to help your skin. She stopped breaking out because of less oil and oil free for 12 hours.
If you don't like the result the company is highly confident that their product works because you get 100% money back guarantee. even if bottles are empty you just have to return item empty or not within 180 days from time it was bought.
No,go back to that place where you bought that stuff at and let them know what your problem is.You could have sensitive skin and that's probably why its reacting. They can recommend something else thats not too hard on your face.
moisturizer makes the skin ANYTHING but dry.
my advice :
stop using Proactive !!!!
my boyfriend was using it and his whole face was red and dry at the same time.. it was horrible.
try Clinique 3 step skin care.
it's something like Proactive but it actually works for everyone !! Because they have 4 diff. types for everyone's own personal skin.
I use it myself.
I also got my mom into it
along with my boyfriend !!
I sware by this stuff !!
Plus my derm. tried giving me prescriptions for all these creams and pills. I never took her offers. Now she told me to neevr use anything else for my skin !!
My skin is beautiful today b.c of Clinique.
I hope you try it. It really works !!
:)
i had the same problem with it. my skin was really dry and flaky around my mouth and chin and started to get sore...i didnt have a bad amount of acne and decided that the pimples were easier to deal with than the peeling and dryness. try it for a week or so, and if it doesnt clear up, stop using it.. =)
buying a moisturiser which suits your skin is trial and error, some work some dont, but if this stuff was making your skin dry and flaky i think you should get rid of it and stop using it. moisturser is designed to put moisture into the skin, not take it out. Go to your doctor and ask what moisturisers he/she would recommend for sensitive skin.
Using harsh products on sensitive in can be very damaging. Try using unsented products. The Simple range are good for sensitive skin and are not scented.
This may sound funny but using soap on the face can also dry it out, try finding a good facial wash and scrub that helps with moisturing, a moisturising face mask may help too. Use the natural ones though.
You can also make a salt solution for using after a wash. When you have a bath, your skin loses some amount of salts. Washing your skin with this salt solution will replace the lost salts. These salts absorb moisture from the air and transmit it to the skin, keeping it moist.
salycillic acid exfoliates ur skin to renew ur skin, but if ur skin is sensitive then it might dry up ur skin rather than exfoliating ur skin. Is ur skin that dry from the beginning or after using the proactiv?
Some of the acne skin care use alcohol in their ingredient ( esp in their toner) to control excess sebum oil but sadly it also irritates and dries the skin.
Try to get some facial cleanser for dry skin, never use soap as the ingredients used to make a soap can dry skin up. Always follow up with a alcohol free toner as they can remove excess dirt thats not removed by ur facial cleanser. Slab on some moisturiser on dry areas, sparingly on t zone.
A good facial product should not have your skin peeling and break-in time for it to work. Perhaps you should just discontinue using and consult a dermatologist. Ive heard afew friends seeing derm. and they are doin great with more controlled skin problems.
ps# my sis tried the 3step clinique and her skin breakout dramatically! so everyone has diff skin..
Well, if you're using proacitve in the first place, then you obviously break out and have acne. But at the same time you have sensitive skin that tends to dry out easily. I wouldn't say to stop using the procative altogether if it is helping with your acne. I have the same problem, and I just stopped using the face wash twice a day. If your skin is sensitive, you shouldn't be exfoliating that much. Use the proactive face wash at night, and use a gentle cleanser in the morning, like cetaphil, or spectro gel. After you tone and put on the repairing cream, use another moisturizer on top of that. I like vitamin E cream, it really moisturizes and makes my skin feel soft, while healing the old acne marks and scars at the same time.
Don't just use one product of proactive, because it does work as a combination, but you can always add other moisturizers and cleansers, depending on what your skin may need at the time. I hope this helps.
I would stop using it if its getting worse. However, skin can take 30-90 days to adjust. But if there is not improvement after 2 weeks I'd be concerned. Personally I've never been able 2 wait 2 weeks for a product I didn't get results with. My husband used to use prescription and has switched to Arbonne's Clear Advantage System. He loves it! Also the products are safer and more beneficial. The CA system includes daily supplements that contribute to your healthy skin. At wholesale, the price is very reasonable. Let me know if I can help you any further. DawnEk@rapidwebllp.com.
