Where could I get advice on what would make me look better??
Question: Okay, I've never ever worn makeup before, maybe just eyeliner or lip gloss, but nothing more. I think it would be absolutely fantastic if I could figure out how to experiment with makeup... using it as an art medium, almost.
Where could I get information on what to do to avoid looking really bad in the process?
Let's clarify: I have a very unique face that looks bad in almost anything, in my opinion. What I need is someone, maybe a professional, who will tell me what would look good and what would look bad, while still leaving room for my own personal style. Where could I find a person like this?
I don't know how to apply makeup, and I'm a tad intimidated by it! ^.^; Help, anyone?
Answers: The best thing to do was to get professional help.
Go to a big makeup store. Here are some great picks:
Chanel
The Body Shop
Bobbi Brown's
MAC
Sephora
Bare Escentuals
Ask them to do your makeup for you. This is completely free.
They will give you the exact shades that you need, the points on your face that you need to accentuate, the parts that you might want to play down.
They will give you examples of great makeup products to use for every day and parties.
Don't worry. They are really nice and will show you exactly how to apply the makeup.
Go to cosmetics counters that offer free make up sessions.
I love Origins and Aveda.
Start at a makeup counter at your local department store.
Hi gal,
Make-up will make you look prettier, just my opinion eyeliner & lip gloss will not really make you look good but more fierce look especially for your eyes
You can put mascara on your eye lash, a bit of eyeshadow e.g white colour and eyeliner as usual. put a bit of blusher on your cheek bone, then apply lip gloss with colour. blusher make your face look more radiant. if you have no time to apply eye liner, then mascara, blusher & lip gloss will be good enough.
I would definitely go to a makeup counter at a department store, or go to Sephora or Ulta.
They will do basically EVERYTHING for you...concealer, foundation, eye shadow, liner, mascara, lip stick/lip gloss. They'll pick out great colors for you.
I've had it done once (everything) at a Lancome counter which was great, and once (foundation only) at Ulta.
They will be VERY helpful :)
Contact a Mary Kay consultant in your area. If you don't know one, go to the marykay.com web site and use the locator there. She will do a consultation privately with you so that you don't have to try things sitting in a public department store. She will help you find the exact products that will work with your skin tone, your skin type, and your life style. Then she will be available for you 24/7 as a personal consultant for life.
