Dose any one here bite there nails like all day bite them way to much tell they hurt or all all gone??

Question: Dose any one here feel they bite there nails way to much or just don't stop, or cant even if they wanted to. My friend bits her nails tell they bleed there are no nails left, but dose not stop when they hurt. Who else is like this? Dose any one picture of there nails or bite there toe nails so it looks like that are no nails left is this normal? if you do I need your help badly in a project and I can pay money if you do them to the extent of above. If you can’t help in the way of a picture please can you just explain how much you bite your nails and what makes you bite them to the point to were there is no more to bite?

never bite my nails i think it worse than smoking.

Well, i kind nibble the ends of my nails but i don't get to the point of them being sore anymore, i grew out of that when i was pretty young.

What i do chew until it hurts is the skin around my nails, like on the edges. Especially on my thumbs... they have cuts all round them. I don't know if this counts.

I do it anytime i don't have something to occuply my hands. Its starts by nibbling on bits that i can bite into that don't hurt but as i pull it off it tears my skin abit which can hurt.

Then i'll stop... leave it a while and notice a bit of skin flaking off, so i try to bite that and it tears my skin a bit more.

I just can't help but pick.

i'm really bad when it comes to biting my nails. i bite my fingernails untl they bleed; it's an awful habit.

i bite them because i have an oral fixation. i always have to have something in my mouth, whether it be gum, food, my fingernails, etc. idk why i have it, i just do. some people believe oral fixations are developed when you are an infant. who knows, though.

i'm sure she'll grow out of it eventually. my mom used to bite her nails just like me, but one day just decided to stop. it's probably just a matter of self control and will power.

Nail biting is a sure sign that someone is VERY insecure!!! YUCK...

I've bitten my nails until there is much left to bite off, but i still have fingernails...i don't rip them off or anything.

I used to do that, they were a real mess! Really horrible. A few things happened to change it.
1) my brother told me that it was so bad that it affect the shape of the nail and they would (if I ever stopped) grow under and look distorted (I don't know if this is true)
2) he offered me money if I could stop biting one on each hand just long enough to make sure it wasn't already too late for the aforementioned nail horror to have occurred!
Doing it one nail on each hand was a really good idea, because they started to look good and I wanted to do one more and so one - sure I relapsed and even now, years later, I still bite the skin around them until it bleeds if I get stressed. But on the whole it got better. Perhaps you could get her a set of acrylics at a salon and show her how nice well manicured nails can look (if they can do them). That would also give the nails underneath a chance to grow.

i always nibble the ends and sometimes nibble to much and it hurts alot.
