It has to do with where were at in time as well as cultural. Norms change with time. I suppose one day long hair will be considered proper.

There aren't any actual pics of Jesus floating around, and no verses that say it was long, so who knows?
Regardless, I am a Bible College graduate and ordained minister who thinks you can have long hair if it jazzes you. God doesn't give a flip how long or short your hair is, I guarantee it.
Some workplaces may consider it unprofessional, but that would be the only caveat.
