For ladies/girls with very short hair; ever accidentally been called "sir" or "young man"??
Question: I'm not trying to be funny or offensive.
I recently was in line at the store and I tapped the shoulder of the person in front of me (don't even remember why) whom I thought was a man. I said Excuse me, sir... , the person turns around, giving me this death glare , and then I realized by her face that it's a woman. I just started apologizing I am so sorry, ma'am. I was so embarrassed, as I'm sure she was. Her glare lessened somewhat, though I could tell she was still not happy that I referred to her as sir .
If any of you had a similar episode, I'd like to know what happened and how it was handled by both sides. Thanks!
Answers: My hair is short but nobody has called me sir. I would not be offended because it was my choice to cut my hair very short. It's an easy mistake if wearing jeans and a hoodie or some other easily unisex clothing. Apologizing was the right thing to do. Don't worry about it, mistakes happen!
lmao ive called random people that work at stores sir if they were a girl and ma'am if they were a guy
when i was younger i played soccer and this girl who had a boy/girl name one that goes for either was on my team and she had wicked short hair and i always reffered to her as a he and her dad was the coach and would always get mad
lol, my hair's kinda long and ppl think i'm a boy by the way i usually dress. it's not too offensive really. don't worry about it too much. apologizing was the right thing to do. ^_^
My hair is long, but I often wear it in a ponytail or clipped up at the back of my head. I drive a pick-up and almost every time I go to the drive-thru at my bank the girl at the window calls me sir or Mr. . I attribute it to the fact that the glare of the sun on my windshield makes it hard for her to see inside the truck and I'm always depositing the Mr.'s paycheck, but I have to sign MY name to the deposit slip for getting cash back......so, I've perfected the death glare ......just kidding.....I ignore it and wave as I drive by the window.......but those girls really should look at the deposit slips a little better.
