How can I make my nails stronger??
Question: My nails grow pretty long, but then they all break off within a day or two after they get to a certain length. I always keep a top coat polish on them. How can I make them stronger and thicker, while still having to do household chores like washing dishes...?
Answers: The basis of hair and nail structure depends on silica , a lack of which makes hair weak and dull, and nails brittle and thin. Recommend you go to a pharmacist or health food outlet, seek out silica supllement or speak with a staff member re the product.
Poor diet leads to vitamin deficiency, including a lack of silica , so make sure you eat plenty of greens.
A thin coat of JB Weld should do it.
Try a multi- vitamin. It helped my nails become stronger
Avon's hard as nails did if for me when I had your problem:)
Heat up a mixture of 1 part milk, 1 part soymilk in the microwave for about 15 seconds, or until warm. Soak your nails in this for about a half an hour twice a week, and you will definitely see a difference.
Consume gelatin (aka jello). That usually works and is all natural.
Take in plenty of calcium and sunlight. Why sunlight? Calcium is not used to its full potential if vitamin D (found in sunlight) doesn't activate it.
gelatin
Dry nails can be caused by a deficiency in vitamin A, calcium or protein. Fragile nails can be caused by a lack of vitamin B. A multivitamin can keep your nails strong! How about trying a strenthening cream like Hard as Hoof which can be found at WalMart? Drinking water is always good for the body!!
use clear nail polish
my nails are so weak and break off so easily.. uhm go to your nearest drug store and buy its called (10 x;s the strength).. or just buy anything that says nail strengthener.. it really works and your nails are hard as a rock. i love it
I FOUND THAT ORANGE PEEL MAKE YOUR NAILS STRONGER ALL I DO IS PEEL AN ORANGE AND SQUEEZE THE OIL ONTO MY NAIL, RUBBER IT BACK AND FOURTH AND LEAVING IT ON FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES.
Don't abuse your nails. To prevent nail damage, don't use your fingernails as tools to pick, poke or pry things.
Don't bite your nails or pick at your cuticles. These habits can damage the nail bed. Even a minor cut alongside your nail can allow bacteria or fungi to enter and cause an infection (paronychia). Because your nails grow slowly, an injured nail retains signs of an injury for several months.
Protect your nails. Wear cotton-lined rubber gloves when using soap and water for prolonged periods or when using harsh chemicals.
Perform routine nail maintenance. Trim fingernails and clean under the nails regularly. Use a sharp manicure scissors or clippers and an emery board to smooth nail edges. Never pull off hangnails — doing so almost always results in ripping living tissue. Instead clip hangnails off, leaving a slight angle outward.
Moisturize your nails frequently. Nails need moisture just like your skin does. Rub lotion into your nails when moisturizing your hands. Be sure to apply a moisturizer each time you wash your hands.
Weak or brittle fingernails can be a challenge to toughen up. The following tips can help you protect them, making your nails less likely to split or break.
Keep your nails short, square shaped and slightly rounded on top. Trim brittle nails after a bath or a 15-minute hand-soak in bath oil. Then apply a moisturizer.
Moisturize your nails and cuticles at bedtime and cover them with cotton gloves.
Apply a nail hardener, but avoid products containing toluene sulfonamide or formaldehyde. These chemicals can cause redness or irritate the skin.
Don't use nail polish remover more than twice a month. Instead, touch up the polish. When you do need a remover, avoid those that use acetone, which dries nails.
Repair splits or tears with nail glue or clear polish.
WELL RIGHT NOW MAKE SURE THAT YOU DON'T WEAR ANY FAKE GLUE ON NAILS BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT HELP. WEAR A TOP COAT OF CLEAR NAIL STRENGTHENER POLISH AND THAT SHOULD DO IT!!

My nails are FIERCE right now and I love it. I take a Hair Vitamin. It is the best I've ever taken. There is no benefit in me telling you this other than for YOU! You can buy them online, they're called Vitastrand. here is the website: http://www.mikalclay.com . Take two a day, I usually take them before bed. They're just as good as prenatal vitamin which is really good for nails and hair, too. The main nutrients that make them great are Niacin, Biotin and Pantothenic Acid. Drink lots of water, eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, get 8 hours of sleep everynight, eat Jell-O a few times a week (gelatin keeps your nails and hair thick and healthy) and as an added bonus (I don't do this) use Nutranail. Its ridiculously good and they sell it at Wal-Mart.
~Peace!
